Sorry i haven't posted in a while, I have been really busy. Taking care of 4 kids and trying to cook from scratch isn't that easy. Matter of fact, its really time consuming...lol... This past weekend my husband and I went on a date. When we went out to dinner, we tried to stay with stuff we knew had no preservs, like fresh seafood and such but man....it was hard. People just dont make anything from scratch anymore. The food made us feel so bloated and unhealthy. My husband told me on the way home, that he loves our new way of eating and he couldn't wait to get this food out of his system, which made me feel really good that he liked the change.
The other day at school, my 4 year old told his pre-school teacher that he couldn't eat at school anymore cause their food had chemicals in it and if he ate it, he would die. When his teacher called me, shejust wanted to make sure she knew what he was talking about, she thought it was really cute that he was such on board with it. She said she wishes all of the kids were like that.lol....
Since we have been eating like this, i have NO problem with my kids eating, they love all the new food. I try to get them to help me cook so they can not only learn how to cook but to feel proud that they cooked it. That helps alot too!
So over the past week, I have tried some new recipes that i will psot up (its the links)
The first one is All Natural Banana Bread, which is totally awesome!! I added walnuts to it and made it banana nut bread...yummmm then i made the same recipe but added organic chocolate chips and made banana chocolate chip muffins for the kids--they didnt last long :)

The second one is organic brownies. When i first started making them the batter looked like moussey(if thats even a word) so i was worried they wouldnt taste cook. BUT....i was totally wrong! They were awesome!! Matter of fact...i caught my 2 year old stealing some...lol...

We also made some more organic tortillas (which i posted the recipe in other post but will post again) with all natural turkey meat, organic cheese, organic tomatoes and organic romane lettuce. It was so....good! The kids have been wanting it every day for lunch. At least they are getting a break from the banana honey peanut butter sandwich...lol

So i will post another blog as soon as i can. I hope everyone is having a great week!!
Going All Natural-Orangic-No Preservatives!
My family and i are taking a new journey of changing the way we eat. We are trying to be as healthy as possible. We are eating no more preservatives! Trying to do as much organic and whole foods as we can. The town we live in, is limited. We are a family of 6...so if we all can do it....anyone can do it!

Day 6
To today my husband and I made a WONDERFUL dinner!! Man...it was so...good! The kids loved it and my husband ate 2 bowls! It doesn't have a name since we made it up but if you want to try it here's what we did:
2 chopped zucchini
1 Large chopped Onion
2 Sliced Bell Pepper
1 glove of garlic (minced)
2 finely chopped Cilantro
2 pounds of Shrimp ( we used Med sized Gulf Shrimp)
1/2- 1 Cup of Olive Oil
1 Package of Organic No Preservative Noodles
For seasoning we used " McCormick Perfect Pinch Mediterranean Herb"
Natural Parmesan Cheese
Cook Noodles as directed. While they are cooking saute' down everything BUT the shrimp with the olive oil. Once they are cooked add in your shrimp. While everything is cooking, add in your seasoning.
Once noodles are done, drain, rinse with cold water and add to the veg.shrimp blend.
Once you serve in bowls or plates, top the noodle Blend with your Parmesan Cheese.
This makes ALOT! We hate it tonight and had PLENTY left over for tomorrows lunch after church
Its delightful!!!

Day 5
Well today was my sons birthday. We had 10 boys over here for a sleep over. They all wanted Chinese food so i let them since it was him birthday. He also wanted an ice cream cake. It looked so...good, i just had to taste it....which i shouldnt have at all! As soon as I ate it, i started feeling sick to my stomach. I think its because i have been having no preservs for almost a week so when i did eat it, my body was trying to reject it. My husband thinks it was all in my head but...i dont know..it could be. But i am glad that i did try it and got sick cause now i have NO desire to eat preservs again!

Day 4
So...my kids are stuck on the organic granola bars and organic peanut butter banana honey sandwiches, lol
But for dinner, as requested by my husband, we had round eye steak with some veggies.
To my surprise my family is adapting to this diet very well. I think this is gonna be a great change.

Day 3
So...this morning went great! The kids loved the organic granola bars!!
For lunch we had left overs from last nights meal (save money by eating left overs)
For Dinner tonight we had baked Salmon with cauliflower and cheese! I bought the Salmon at Sams. Its all natural no preservs and its already marinated! It was so...good!
So far, i am loving this way of eating. I feel so much better already....i know its only day 3 but after dinner, i dont have this heavy full filling. Its more like a light, satisfied feeling. I am loving it. Plus, i am really liking being able to eat 5-6 a day. It makes it easier to turn away from unhealthy foods and cravings. When you let your self get hungry, your body starts craving things, which usually ends up leading to junk food. So, if you eat most of the day by snacking on healthy stuff, you will stay full and won't have those bad cravings. So far, i have no interest in junk food. :) I think we are all gonna do just fine!
My oldest son has requested homemade organic donuts, so i am on the search for a good recipe.
See yall tomorrow.
P.S.
If you try any of the recipes that i post, please comment and let me know how they turned out. But any comments are welcome anytime :)
