Day 6

To today my husband and I made a WONDERFUL dinner!! Man...it was so...good! The kids loved it and my husband ate 2 bowls! It doesn't have a name since we made it up but if you want to try it here's what we did:

2 chopped zucchini
1 Large chopped Onion
2 Sliced Bell Pepper
1 glove of garlic (minced)
2 finely chopped Cilantro
2 pounds of Shrimp ( we used Med sized Gulf Shrimp)
1/2- 1 Cup of Olive Oil
1 Package of Organic No Preservative Noodles
For seasoning we used " McCormick Perfect Pinch Mediterranean Herb"
Natural Parmesan Cheese

Cook Noodles as directed. While they are cooking saute' down everything BUT the shrimp with the olive oil. Once they are cooked add in your shrimp. While everything is cooking, add in your seasoning.

Once noodles are done, drain, rinse with cold water and add to the veg.shrimp blend.
Once you serve in bowls or plates, top the noodle Blend with your Parmesan Cheese.

This makes ALOT! We hate it tonight and had PLENTY left over for tomorrows lunch after church

Its delightful!!!

Day 5

Well today was my sons birthday. We had 10 boys over here for a sleep over. They all wanted Chinese food so i let them since it was him birthday. He also wanted an ice cream cake. It looked so...good, i just had to taste it....which i shouldnt have at all! As soon as I ate it, i started feeling sick to my stomach. I think its because i have been having no preservs for almost a week so when i did eat it, my body was trying to reject it. My husband thinks it was all in my head but...i dont know..it could be. But i am glad that i did try it and got sick cause now i have NO desire to eat preservs again!

Day 4

So...my kids are stuck on the organic granola bars and organic peanut butter banana honey sandwiches, lol

But for dinner, as requested by my husband, we had round eye steak with some veggies.

To my surprise my family is adapting to this diet very well. I think this is gonna be a great change.

Day 3

So...this morning went great! The kids loved the organic granola bars!!

For lunch we had left overs from last nights meal (save money by eating left overs)

For Dinner tonight we had baked Salmon with cauliflower and cheese! I bought the Salmon at Sams. Its all natural no preservs and its already marinated! It was so...good!

So far, i am loving this way of eating. I feel so much better already....i know its only day 3 but after dinner, i dont have this heavy full filling. Its more like a light, satisfied feeling. I am loving it. Plus, i am really liking being able to eat 5-6 a day. It makes it easier to turn away from unhealthy foods and cravings. When you let your self get hungry, your body starts craving things, which usually ends up leading to junk food. So, if you eat most of the day by snacking on healthy stuff, you will stay full and won't have those bad cravings. So far, i have no interest in junk food. :) I think we are all gonna do just fine!
My oldest son has requested homemade organic donuts, so i am on the search for a good recipe.

See yall tomorrow.

P.S.
If you try any of the recipes that i post, please comment and let me know how they turned out.  But any comments are welcome anytime :)

For Breakfast, Snack and Lunch we had the same thing as yesterday but...for dinner we had

All Natural Tortelloni Italian sauage from Sam's
topped with Orangic Tomatoe sauce with onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, Basil and oreago
with a side salad and organic salad dressing.

Today i cooked homemade orangic granola bars for the kids breakfast tomorrow. Man...they turned out so good! My husband tasted them tonight and said he couldn't wait to have them in the morning :) Here is the link for the recipe  http://www.naturalfamilyrecipes.com/granola-bars.html

I also made orangic peanut butter chocolate chip cookies which also turned out better than i thought. Heres the recipe for that:

1 c. organic peanut butter (can use creamy or chunky)
1 egg
1/2 c. raw sugar (can use white)
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 tsp. vanilla extract
mix together and bake at 350 until brown on edges

So tomorrow for snack, i will be making fruit smoothies so i will let you know how that turns out!

See ya tomorrow

Day 1

Today was day 1 on our no preservative way of eating....and it was AWESOME!!

Yesterday, my husband and I made orangic whole wheat tortillas, they were better than any tortilla i ever tasted! We also cut up a whole turkey and made our own fresh ground turkey meat (my kitchen aid has the attachment).

                                                               Breakfast:
Egg Burritos
Egg Substitue with onions, bell peppers , then i added browned All Natural Pork Breakfast meat by Jimmy Dean. Once done, we wrapped it in some of our homemade tortillas and added Casa Manana Salsa(all natural-no preservs) on top

                                                                 Snack:
We ate Veggie fries! They are so...good! I got them from Sams by the chips. They are all natural, no preservs, gluteen free, No GMO

                                                                 Lunch:
Natures Own 100% Whole Wheat hot dog buns with Orangic Natural Peanut butter, a whole banana, toppped with organic natural honey! The kids LOVED this....and so did I!

                                                                  Snack:
Organic cucumbers topped with organic salad dressing

                                                                  Dinner:
Baked Pork Loin Chops seasoning with Garlic and Mrs. Dash Tomatoe basil seasoning( No MSG, no preservs)
Boiled Some organic red potatoes, drained, then added all natural organic butter  topped with Garlic and Italian seasoning
Boiled some carrots, drained then added a little organic butter

Pre-start day 01/14/11

ok, so today i went grocery shopping for our organic and no preservative foods. Of course, since this was my first time, i thought it wouldn't be that hard....haha yeah right! Its not that easy. We dont have many places to choose from. Krogers has more organic/no preservatives than Walmart. But i did find some good things at Walmart and Sam's. I am REALLY excited about Monday! I cant wait! We are still trying to cook everything in our house that itsn't healthy. My husband ordered pizza and bought him some king cake. He said if he has only 2 more days left...it was eating the good stuff. Me, I am personally tired of eating unhealthy food. So...the next time you will be hearing from me....it will be day 1 of our new journey to a healthier life :)

I will post about our journey and new recipes that i find. I will also post helpful info links so anyone interested in taking the challenge with us

See ya Monday :)
